About Maryland Bears

Governor is wrong to back bear hunt

Shame on Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr.  How disappointing that he has chosen to continue his disgraceful support of the bear hunt ("Ehrlich OKs proceeding with W. Md. bear hunt," Sept. 8).

Mr. Ehrlich's approval of this unnecessary hunt of Maryland's glorious black bears, which this great state has so carefully protected by law for the past 50 years, only demonstrates his complete lack of respect for his constituents and peers, let alone for the majesty of these creatures.

Mr. Ehrlich has let us down once again.
